Just behind the Sandal Khana mosque (East to
West) the Chilla of Hazrat Baba
Fareed-Ganj-e-Shakar (R.A.) is situated,
where, Baba Fareed (R.A) (peace, to his
soul) spent some time in contemplation and
seclusion. The gate to the Chilla Sharif
remains closed throughout the year except
for a day, the 5th of Moharram, every year,
when it is opened for Ziarat to allih the
Chilla sharif.
It is said that Hazrat Shaikh Farid
Ganj-e-Shakar (R.A.) is a descendant of
Hazrat Umar-Farooq-e-Azam (peace to his
soul) the second Caliph of Hazrat Mohammed
Sallal-lahoAlaiha-wasallam.
The father of Hazrat Baba Fariduddin
Ganj-e-Shakar (R.A.) (peace to his soul) was
Shaikh Jamaluddin Solaiman who had also
migrated from Ghazni.
Hazrat Shaikh Farid was born in the year,
1173 A.D. and named Fariduddin Masud. He
lived and died at patan where lies buried.
This place is now known as Pak Patan near
Gujranwala, Pakistan.
