This is known as Sandal Khana mosque or Alam
Giri Mosque. This is the crown mosque and is
made sacred by some historical events. For
example, during Raja Prithvi Raj Chowhan's
reign this place was his Camel Camp. The
camels were supposed to be for the Raja's
work. Hazrat Khawaja Gharib Nawaz
R.A.A.(peace to his soul) reached Ajai Meru
(formerly known) now called Ajmer, halted
for the night at this place and offered his
first prayer on the Ajmer soil at this very
spot. After the visual (demise) of the Holy
Saint this was the sight on which the first
mosque was raised for visitors by Sultan
Allauddin Khilji in 1448 A.D. Additions and
alterations were subsequently made out by
other kings.
