A family consisting of an old lady, her
husband and two children visited Ajmer
Sharif to perform Ziarat in the 1978 Urs
(Annual celebrations). They entered into the
Astana Sharif (Tomb) of Hazrat Khwaja
Moinuddin Chishty R.A.A. (Peace to his soul)
During these Urs celebrations (Passing Away
Anniversary) millions of people visit Ajmer
to personally receive the blessings of the
Holy Saint. To achieve this object countless
devotees, followers and lovers of the Holy
Saint do their best to enter the Shrine of
the Great Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Chishty
R.A.A. (peace to his soul) for ziarat by
pushing, pulling and dashing against one
another.
In such an uncontrollable rush the children
of this family were lost in the crowd. One
child aged 7 years was trampled by the crowd
and ultimately died of suffocation. Their
parents in an understandably emotional
frenzy shrieked, cried and wept during their
search for their son and daughter lost in
the rush.
In the meantime some volunteers, who noticed
this dead body of the boy in the heavy rush,
carried the body out of Astana and handed it
over to his parents. As soon as the parents
saw the dead body of their son, who lost his
life inside the Astana Sharif of the Great
Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hassan Chishty R.A.A.
(peace to his soul) on his annual Urs
celebrations day, they became unconscious.
They had come there to offer fateha and
perform ziarat. They could not imagine the
sad result. They were extremely aggrieved
and badly perturbed. They cursed their luck.
The boy’s mother started weeping bitterly
and cursed the glory of the Holy Saint. A
large crowd also gathered on the spot.
Everyone was anxiously enquiring as to how
the boy died. During these sad moments, the
unfortunate mother spread her hair, on the
face and started beating her forehead and
breast. She tore her clothes and was turning
mad. At that very moment, out of nowhere a
Darvesh who was tall and aged appeared on
the spot and smilingly peered into the place
from where the great noise and weeping was
coming from. He thereafter asked the old
woman-to-give alms to him by saying ‘all
will be okay'. On hearing these words the
old lady was extremely angry. She said to
the Darvesh 'What is okay and what will be
okay? I have lost my prettiest son
performing the ziarat of the Great Hazrat
Khwaja Gharib Nawaz R.A.A. (peace to his
soul). But the Khwaja instead of blessing us
and being merciful has taken the life of my
son." Having said this, she again started
weeping, beating her head, tearing her
clothes and crying madly.
The Darvesh who was watching all these
things again demanded alms in the name of
Allah. The old woman in spite of all her
grief owing to death of her son, parted with
a five rupee note as alms to the Darvesh.
The Darvesh gratefully and smilingly
accepted it and whispered some Quaranic
verses on the dead body of her son. He also
showered his blessings by touching his hand
on the body of the dead boy, who started
breathing and opened his eyes smiling
towards his mother. Immediately thereafter,
the Darvesh disappeared from the crowd. The
moment this miracle occurred, the old mother
kissed her son with the greatest joy. The
spectators were surprised and watched with
keen interest the scene of extreme sorrow
turning into one of greatest joy. The
Darvesh could not be found any where in
spite of all possible searching by the
anxious crowd.
This great miracle is just one of
innumerable miracles which occur at the
hands of Holy Saint on a regular basis.
